Founded in 1961, AED is an independent, nonprofit organization committed to solving critical social problems in the U.S. and throughout the world through education, social marketing, research, training, policy analysis and innovative program design and management. Major areas of focus include health, education, youth development, and the environment.

Description of services provided:
AED Manages a number of country-specific as well as global programs to address HIV/AIDS, TB, and Malaria. A sample of current regional and global projects include: Food and Nutrition Technical Assistance (FANTA)- includes development and dissemination of nutritional guidelines for PWAs. Linkages -A worldwide project to support breastfeeding, related complementary feeding and maternal nutrition - project includes Prevention of Mother-to-Child Transmission. Netmark -NetMark is an innovative approach, which seeks to prevent malaria in Africa by promoting Insecticide Treated Materials (ITMs) through the formation of public-private partnerships. PASCA - The Central American HIV/AIDS Prevention Project (Proyecto Acción SIDA de Centroamérica- PASCA) is an international program to strengthen Central America's capacity to respond to the AIDS epidemic. And SMARTWork (Strategically Managing AIDS Responses Together) - a workplace HIV/AIDS prevention and awareness program working to establish workplace programs with government, employers, and labor/unions.
