Description of services provided:
Members of this network are UNAIDS, PAHO/WHO, HTCG and the Monitoring of the AIDS Pandemic (MAP), as well as UNAIDS collaborating Centres, national epidemiologists, the US Bureau of the Census and the UNICEF Regional Office.
Main mission and areas of work:
- Regional assessments of the epidemic and development of its surveillance systems, including in hard to reach populations
- Strengthening epidemiological surveillance in the context of second and third generation surveillance
- Development of methodologies adapted to the regional and sub-regional contexts
- Strengthening and promotion of epidemiological networks
- Generation and exchange of epidemiological state-of-science methodologies
- Technical cooperation, including horizontal collaboration
